Essentially Monte Cristo is planning and scheming his revenge on the people who betrayed him, but it isn’t really clear what he’s doing. I even had to put it down for a couple months. The second third of the book kinda lost me for a bit. You really feel for Dantes as all these awful things happen to him simply because of jealousy and corruption. The first third of the book starts out fast and exciting.

My only caution is that I would make sure to pick a version with a good translation. So I encourage everyone to read this book as you will not be disappointed.
